The zotolo or Sepiola Rondeletii is a small cuttlefish belonging to the squid family. It therefore looks like a cuttlefish but smaller. Particularly tasty in the kitchen, it’s also easy to find in our market.
The zotolo tends to live in sandy seabeds; that’s why it is especially easy to find in the Adriatic Sea. It feeds on small fish that it typically catches and swallows in one swoop. For the most part anglers use the zotolo as bait to catch larger prey.
The way zotolo is captured is through trawling, or by advancing the nets along the seabed.
