The Leerfish belongs to the Carangidae family. Scientific description: Lichia Amia
Typical of the Mediterranean Sea, it begins to approach the coast in the spring (and it is in this period that its reproductive process begins with spawning), but it becomes more aggressive and noticeable during the autumn months. The larger specimens prefer the clear waters offshore, possibly in dry or rocky areas, while the younger and smaller ones prefer to stay near the coast, preferably in sandy areas and in some cases also in dock areas or at the mouths of rivers.
The Leerfish is rich in omega 3, an essential fatty acid which is very similar to vegetable oils because it is mainly characterized by polyunsaturated compounds.
